Toys for children in the hospital

How to donate gifts and supplies to support patients across M Health Fairview

Our doctors, nurses, and care teams change lives every day. But we can’t do it alone. Throughout the year, donations from our community make a real difference for the children, adults, and families receiving care across M Health Fairview.

If you’re planning to give this season, thank you. We’re grateful for the generosity of individuals and organizations who help support our patients through gifts of books, toys, clothing, and other comfort items. Each donation — large or small — helps us advance our mission of health and wellbeing for all.

This guide outlines our current needs, donation policies, and how to schedule or send your gifts. Whether you’d like to brighten the day of a child in the hospital or provide comfort items for adults, there are many ways to help.

What we can and cannot accept

We can only accept new and unused items in their original packaging, including toys, books, movies, activities, clothing, personal care products, and crafts.

To protect our patients — especially those with weakened immune systems — all donations must come from smoke-free, pet-free, dust-free, and illness-free environments.

We cannot accept:

  • Food, candy, or latex items

  • Handmade toys or cards

  • Violent toys or games

  • Gift-wrapped items, or those with gift tags or labels

  • Items that have been in storage for several years

This helpful guide outlines our donation policies and needed items. If you plan to support the children under our care, we have included instructions for scheduling a drop-off at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital. If you plan to support adult patients, we have included mail-in instructions as well as details about our Happy Carts program, which provides comfort and activities for hospitalized adults.

Shop from our online wish lists

One of the easiest ways to donate is by purchasing directly from our online wish lists. These lists feature items requested by staff and patients — and online purchases are shipped directly to us, minimizing contact and ensuring safety.
