Oh, baby: The list of top baby names of 2024 is in

In 2024, our health system welcomed more than 12,600 special deliveries. With them comes a new list of top baby names. Because of ties, we’re giving you the top 11 names chosen by parents who delivered at one of our The Birthplace at M Health Fairview locations – or at our Fairview Range and Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital birth centers this year.

 

For the third year in a row, Theodore topped the list of names for babies assigned male. Seventy-seven babies were named Theodore. With 74 boys named Oliver, the name is giving Theodore some competition. Levi and Brooks are newcomers to the list of most popular boy names. Leo was bumped out of the top 11.

 

For babies assigned female, Olivia took the top spot with 51 babies given the name. Olivia climbed to the top from third place in 2023. Emma also saw a rise from no. 8 in 2023 to no. 2 in 2024. Violet, Harper, and Ava each earned a spot in the top 11, bumping Lucy and Sophia off the list.

  1. June 28: 57 births
  2. May 17: 56 births
  3. August 28: 55 births
  4. December 10: 55 births

M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital was the busiest Birthplace, delivering 3,000 bundles of joy.

 

The median age of birthing parents in 2024 was 32 years old.
