M Health Fairview combines the university's deep history of clinical innovation and training with Fairview's extensive roots in community medicine. Our care teams include physicians, nurses, and staff who are either employed by the University of Minnesota and M Physicians, or Fairview Health Services.

When you work with M Health Fairview Pediatrics providers, you can expect:

  • Access to our expertise – We are available to consult about your patients, with or without a referral.
  • Appointment access – Our goal, whenever possible, is to see your patient within seven days if requested.
  • Follow-up communication – You will hear from us within a week after your patient is seen.
  • 24/7 referrals – Through our physician referral service, you can make a referral, request a consult, or admit a patient anytime.

  • Behavioral health emergency612-672-6600. Patients (of any age) are received at the West Bank Emergency Department.
  • Solid organ transplant emergencies612-625-5115 to refer a patient for solid organ transplant.
  • Pediatric inter-hospital critical care transport1-888-KIDS-UMN. Ask to be connected with a bedside pediatric intensivist physician about hospital transport. Teams are dispatched within 30 minutes of alert, 24/7.

Credentialing


The Fairview System Credentialing Office (FSCO) handles the credentialing, reappointment, and privileging process for providers. It supports medical staff by conducting a thorough, accurate verification and review of credentials while also monitoring licenses, insurance, and board certification. FSCO is the key point of entry for providers who wish to be credentialed with M Health Fairview Pediatrics.

A history of academic research excellence


Founded in 1888, the University of Minnesota Medical School draws on 135 years of medicine through education, scientific discovery, and compassionate care. Part of one of the premier academic health centers in the nation, it is home to the world’s first stem cell institute, and the place where the world’s first successful open-heart surgery using hypothermia took place – as well as the world’s first successful allogenic bone marrow transplant. The world’s first external pacemaker was also created here.  
 
The Center for Measuring University Performance’s 2020 report ranks the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities 9th in the nation among U.S. public research institutions. In 2023, University of Minnesota ranked 21st in NIH funding with $341 million in sponsored research.
