Our interventional cardiology program was one of the first in the nation, in 1986, to use angioplasty to rapidly reopen heart arteries in patients having heart attacks.

Overview

Every year, interventional cardiologists with M Health Fairview Heart Care diagnose and treat thousands of people with coronary artery disease from throughout Minnesota and the upper Midwest. Cardiologists use techniques such as angioplasty and stenting to open blocked arteries and restore blood flow to the heart without open heart surgery.

Our approach

Our interventional cardiology program was one of the first in the nation, in 1986, to use angioplasty to rapidly reopen heart arteries in patients having heart attacks. This procedure has since become standard therapy for heart attacks around the world. In addition, we offer investigational trials for aortic valve therapy, mitral valve therapy, and atrial septal defect closures.

In addition, our Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) program integrates multiple disciplines to provide a revolutionary treatment that allows for a less invasive replacement of your aortic valve. More than 500 patients have successfully received this therapy since the program began in 2012, giving patients a chance at a new life.
