Doctors that specialize in treating children with skin conditions are relatively rare in the United States. Fortunately for families in Minnesota and beyond, M Health Fairview offers one of the largest pediatric dermatology practices in the Upper Midwest. Comprised of doctors who are leaders in their field, our practice includes full-time, board-certified pediatric dermatologists who have completed fellowships and advanced training in their specialty, and have years of experience in their field.

Overview

If your child or adolescent is experiencing a problem with their skin, you may be worried about short- and long-term health effects. They may also feel self-conscious about their appearance. As a parent, it may be reassuring to know that skin conditions are treatable, whether they are present from birth or appear as they develop. Within our practice, we treat the full range of dermatological issues that occur in childhood, from common conditions like eczema and acne to rare and complex diseases.

Our approach

As pediatric dermatologists, we are experts in treating infants, children, and adolescents with skin problems. We believe that it’s important for kids to see a dermatologist who specializes in pediatrics, because skin conditions can present differently in children than they do in adults. Not only are their medical needs often different, children and teens do best in a healing environment that puts kids first.

At M Health Fairview Pediatrics, our practice is designed with young people in mind. Many procedures are performed in a sedation center designed for your child or teen's comfort. In addition, our collaborative team approach includes certified Child-Family Life specialists who focus on your child’s emotional and social well-being during their healthcare experience.

We treat patients with skin conditions ranging from common rashes and eczema to complex inherited skin diseases. We also perform minor procedures and laser treatments for birthmarks, like port-wine stains and hemangiomas in our clinic. To treat complex conditions that involve skin symptoms, our physicians often collaborate with other pediatric medical specialists. Here are some of the programs that are offered as a part of our interdisciplinary approach:

The Center for Pediatric Vascular Lesions, an interdisciplinary clinic with experts in hematology and oncology, interventional radiology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, and orthopedics.
A clinic devoted to epidermolysis bullosa, where dermatologists work closely with physicians in our pioneering Blood and Marrow Transplant program.
If your child has a skin condition, they can get the highest level of care with an M Health Fairview pediatric dermatologist. We are able to provide an expert diagnosis quickly, along with a treatment plan tailored to your child’s specific needs, goals, desires, and dreams. Many times, parents wait weeks or months before they receive the correct diagnosis and appropriate care. When you choose M Health Fairview, you’ll receive answers about your child’s skin condition and a treatment plan, all in a healing environment that prioritizes kids.
