We are a team of compassionate experts who help children and adolescents with neurological conditions live their best lives. With in-depth knowledge of the developing brain and pediatric behavior, we assess children and adolescents and recommend plans that treat the whole child, to promote their emotional, social, and behavioral health.
One of the core services we provide is pediatric neuropsychological assessment to determine if a child may have a brain disorder that affects their thinking or development. Because there are multiple factors to consider, we examine the role of genetics, disease, injury, socioeconomic background, and family relationships when conducting a full evaluation. As a part of the assessment, we’ll integrate information from the following sources to form a diagnostic recommendation:
- A clinical interview and observation of the child
- Interview of primary caregivers and family members, if possible
- Review of school and medical records
- Standardized test results that measure brain functions, which may include attention, ability to control their behavior, memory, language, emotional regulation, visual and spatial skills, and fine motor abilities. Tests are selected based on the child’s age, presenting problems, developmental status, language, and culture.
After a diagnosis is in place, we’ll identify your child’s strengths, as well as their areas for potential improvement in brain functioning and behavior. We’ll work with you to create a personalized and comprehensive plan that will guide your child to optimal health, development, and well-being.
