At M Health Fairview, we practice a holistic approach to healthcare, especially when it comes to pain management. Since it is our mission to treat the whole child, we care for our patients’ emotional and social needs, as well as their physical needs. We are dedicated to improving your child's experience and well-being through expert pain assessment and management.
Our team offers inpatient pain management services as a part of the Pediatric Advanced Complex Care Team (PACCT). We strive to go above and beyond to support kids who are experiencing pain to find a solution that helps them feel better. We see patients that are going through an acute or complex illness, and those who are experiencing a longer illness or chronic condition.
Pain can come from many sources and is impacted by many factors, including medical conditions, procedures, stress, anxiety, coping skills, and social variables. Each child’s situation is unique, so we partner with them, their loved ones, and their health care team to develop an individualized care plan. We provide comfort and help reduce the stress and anxiety children and their families feel while being treated for an illness.
Whether your infant, child, or teen is receiving treatment for cancer or recovering from surgery, we offer an array of pain management options for kids that need support, including methods that address physical, mental, and emotional distress. Pain management services are provided by a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists, pharmacists, psychologists, and physical therapists. We work closely with the child’s healthcare team to provide comprehensive pain assessment and to develop the best and safest possible plan for managing pain. Treatment might include pain medication, psychotherapy, physical therapy, or integrative pain management therapies, and they are chosen specially for each child, depending on their diagnosis, symptoms, and treatments they are undergoing.
We encourage parents to be a voice for their child or teen, and we can help you understand what they need and advocate for their best interests. As specialists in this field, we know that good pain management supports your child’s recovery, and we can partner with you to improve your child’s overall comfort and well-being throughout their health journey.
