Our approach
The number of children and adolescents experiencing mental health challenges has risen in recent years. From online bullying to the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic, young people face a very different set of challenges than previous generations experienced. Many who are struggling need professional assistance to help them during difficult times.
Our team of pediatric psychologists are doctoral-level professionals who treat children and adolescents with mental health conditions, developmental issues, and emotional challenges. They are specialists in the human mind, focused on the diagnosis and treatment of mental health challenges through counseling and therapeutic interactions.
In our pediatric psychology practice, psychologists meet with children for outpatient therapy sessions, psychological assessments, and therapeutic outpatient and inpatient mental health programs. Here are the core services we offer:
- Counseling and therapy – One-on-one meetings with a psychologist or another clinician for therapy, usually on an ongoing basis.
- Psychological evaluation – A series of psychometric tests and interviews that can shed light on the child’s strengths, challenges, and best options for treatment.
- Consultation and referral services – Recommendations and referrals to see specialists in psychiatry or attend substance use or mental health programs.
Working with a psychologist or counselor in a therapeutic relationship can help your child explore their thoughts and feelings, develop coping skills, and address unwanted thoughts or behaviors. Early recognition and treatment of mental health conditions gives children the opportunity to recover and live their best lives. In addition to improving their current state of mind, the psychological tools and coping skills they learn from therapy will serve them throughout the rest of their life, as they build resilience and strength in the face of adversity.
